SCULPTURE NEAR DISTANCE

A film by Paul Murphy to coincide and document my recent exhibition at Thirsk Hall Sculpture Park showing the installation and construction of large sculptures in the studio with an exhibition showing small sculpture and prints at Gallery One. Curated by Jon Wood

Commentary by: Jon Wood and Willoughby Gerrish

"Jeff Lowe’s sculpture relishes contrast. Working with sheets of steel and aluminium, the curvilinear, perforated forms of his new sculptures combine a strong visual identity with a subtle sensitivity to the landscape – in this case to the parkland at Thirsk Hall in which they have been placed." Jon Wood, 2022

A Life of Making

a film by Paul Murphy

Leading up to his forthcoming exhibition entitled 'In The Close Distance' at the Pangolin Gallery London, sculptor Jeff Lowe discusses his life and work in this short documentary.

Linden Hall Studio

OVERLAP Jeff Lowe | Sculptures Eugenie Vronskaya | Paintings 7 May – 15 June 2019 at Linden Hall Studio, 32, St Georges Road, Deal, Kent, CT14 6BA. The day before the private view of OVERLAP, sculptor Jeff Lowe sat down for the latest ‘in conversation’ film with LHS Gallery Director Myles Corley 'The idea - the imaginative concept - actually is the giving of life and vitality to material...when we say that a great sculpture has vision, power, vitality, scale, poise, form or beauty, we are not speaking of physical attributes. Vitality is not a physical, organic attribute of sculpture – it is a spiritual inner life.' Barbara Hepworth

Sculpture in the Garden
Pangolin London

Pangolin London is delighted to present an ambitious exhibition that brings the ‘outdoors in’. Transforming its sleek, architectural gallery space into three parts: a woodland, formal and walled garden complete with trees and water sculpture, the exhibition explores how sculpture has been synonymous with the landscape since ancient times. This exhibition is a collaboration with the local charity Global Generation who focus on using gardening to build communities.

'Erhebung' - A Dance-Sculpture-Sonic Art Installation

Director & Choreographer: Mayuri Boonham
Sculpture: Jeff Lowe
Sound Art: Bill Fontana
Costume Design: Moritz Junge
Dance Artists: Shreya Kumar, Hian Ruth Voon

New classical Indian dance meets abstract sculpture in Erhebung – a collaboration between ATMA Dance’s Artistic Director Mayuri Boonham and Sculptor Jeff Lowe. Boonham’s increasing abstraction of the dancers’ figures creates an expressive boundary with Lowe’s striking sculpture - a place where form and abstraction merge. Every second of choreography, every viewpoint of the relationship between the sculpture and the dancers becomes a flowing living sculpture.

Erhebung is a dance-sonic-sculpture installation with two dancers. Inspired by T.S. Eliot’s Burnt Norton, the work is devised in collaboration with a team of international artists that include the American Sound Artist Bill Fontana and Costume Designer Moritz Junge from Germany.

‘Erhebung’ is funded by the Arts Council of England and co-commissioned by Pavilion Dance South West and GemArts.
